Donate with Confidence

Beacon Ministries depends on people like you to make it possible for us to help the hundreds of people who call us each year seeking assistance in times of crisis – eviction notices, utilities shut-offs, homeless, without food, and a host of other situations resulting from insufficient income to sustain basic life needs. We receive no government funds. All our income is from private sources, much of it from individuals like yourself. The financial support of our Partner Churches, individuals, businesses, and organizations is essential to our ability to continue helping those in need. We keep our operating costs low by using many volunteers to carry much of the work load so your donation gives maximum benefit to our clients. You couldn’t make a better investment that in the lives of people and their families. Thank you!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Beacon has opportunities to serve poor and homeless people in several ways, all of them to carry out Jesus’ mandate to “serve the least of these among us.” Pastors, won’t you help us recruit volunteers from your congregations? It will benefit your church by getting more of your people into Christian service; it will help Beacon to meet the needs of those who come to us for help.
Furniture Ministry. Join with others in the satisfaction of bringing furniture items to families in need, and to pick up donations of furniture. The work crews enjoy the comradeship they feel as they work together.
Relational Ministry. Help prepare and serve meals to homeless and near homeless people. You are also invited to share with them in conversation at the forum that follows.
Resource Connection Line: Greet callers who call for help through life crises and gather information to get them started toward solving their problems through Beacon’s help. Serve 9:00 a.m., to noon, or noon to 3:00 p.m. one day per week or more, Monday through Thursday. Please call Carol Haffner Meyer at 618-222-8942 if you can give us a morning or afternoon to help us by answering phones and taking applications from those calling in for assistance. We are in great need of phone volunteers, especially on Monday and Wednesday. Call us at 618-222-8942.
Beacon can’t get the job done without volunteers. We, and especially our callers, depend on volunteers to help us serve these needy people. There is nothing more fulfilling and satisfying to serve others
